Deliverables:

Most people have experienced getting lost in a film, becoming immersed in its world, but may not fully realize the mental and emotional shift that occurs during the transition from reality to fantasy. Film titles play a crucial role in facilitating this shift. As the titles appear on screen, our attention focuses, the external world fades away, and we begin to absorb the film's atmosphere. Title sequences set the dramatic stage, preparing the viewer’s emotions for the story that’s about to unfold. Whether it’s humor, mystery, or drama, titles tune our senses, drawing us seamlessly into the film.

The goal of this project is to create a 60-90 second main title sequence that sets the mood and captures the essence of the chosen film, as well as develop a 10-second teaser title sequence to offer a quick glimpse of the film’s tone and style. In creating these sequences, we were tasked with incorporating video, typography, and sound, carefully selecting each element to enhance the emotional impact of the sequence.

STORY BOARD

INSIGHTSFor this project, I chose to tell the story of the briefcase and its journey throughout the movie. Using my dad as the main actor, I highlighted the steps he took to carry the briefcase through downtown LA, incorporating found typography and vintage lighting. Although this project was intended to be a collaboration, I decided to work independently due to the uneven number of students in the class. This choice allowed me to focus on improving my skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and filming on my own.
