When hearing the term “emo,” most people envision common traits such as black hair, black eyeliner, ripped jeans, and unique hairstyles. Emo culture is often associated with feelings of sadness and being an outsider. We decided to take this well-known topic and attempt to flip the stereotypes surrounding it. Why does being emo make a person seem weird or different, or cause them to feel like they don’t fit in?
Research into the emo community reveals a genuine connection to emotions. So why is it considered "weird" to be emotional? Why can’t it be cool to express one’s feelings deeply?
